Team Member Since 2019
Better days are always ahead eventually! "Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer." - JRR Tolkien
Describe the work you do at the Credit Union.
I work with the Human Resources team. My favorite part of my role is helping out the new hires. It's a privilege to give people the good news that they were picked for a position. I know interviewing and starting a new job can be intimidating, so I'm happy to be a friendly, welcoming voice throughout the onboarding process. I definitely feel that our work has a important impact on our team members. We make sure they have health benefits, get paid accurately, receive training, stay safe and are treated fairly. We really do care about making sure our team members have a positive experience at SCE FCU.
What was your first job?
My first job was handing out flyers on campus during college. It involved a lot of days standing in the sun getting ignored by people walking by. I definitely appreciate now being able to work in a nice, comfortable office (and from home sometimes!)
How did you come to be an SCE FCU team member?
I completed a BA in Psychology and worked in HR for 5 years before joining SCE FCU. I started out as an HR Assistant, then moved up to Generalist. I've done just about everything in HR throughout my career – recruiting, payroll, benefits administration, policy development, leaves of absence, training and more! My previous position was at a start-up organization that had frequent changes. They were very innovative, but I preferred to work somewhere that was established, stable and had a positive impact in the community. That's what drew me to apply at SCE FCU.
How do you spend your free time?
I love to bake! During quarantine I learned to make my own sourdough bread from scratch which has been quite a challenge. Some other treats I've enjoyed making are brown butter chocolate chip cookies, chocolate babka, and everything bagels. I live with my boyfriend of 10 years, Steven, who I met in high school. We have a yellow Labrador Retriever, Rudy, who is 10 years old. He's a little gray in the face nowadays, but still loves playing fetch! Rudy, that is... not Steven. :)
